“Ghosts, Convolution & Undeniability”, 2016 In Progress Shots

July 20, 2016

I had this idea for a triptych… It took me a while, but I wanted to do something with transparencies, the end result being some PNGs that could be overlaid onto one image and make an entirely different image.

The full name of the work, the final composite piece seen as the very last image, is very long, but reads as: “The Ghost of the Past, The Convoluted Future, and The Undeniable Future”. A mouth full!

So I started with the first one, the background, the solid weight, the foundation — the one holding them all there. My character Azra, of course. This was also a great excuse for me to practice an angle of the face I don’t think I’m terribly impressive with. I have used it a couple of times before, but I struggle with it… And I’d be asking lightning to strike three times with this piece for having three characters with their faces turned the same way.

With my base done and me pretty settled with how it came out, I started working on the other two.

The Ghost of the Past

The above was also a fun practice in reflective metallic armor.

The Undeniable Future

All three of these make works that stand on their own and say a bit about the characters themselves. But when put together, it creates a strong system:

Ghosts, Convolution, & Undeniability

And lastly, a fun insight into how bad I am at layer management:
