My original character Azra, as you probably know him through a lot of the personal works I’ve created, struggles with a lot of byproducts of PTSD (Including a lot of anxiety and a variety of other mental tics and symptoms). One of those is struggles is insomnia. It’s more of a reluctance thing. As with anyone who struggles with insomnia, he has trouble finding sleep when he wants it, and when he does it’s at seemingly random and/or unwanted times. On top of that, the sleep he does find is plagued with nightmares.

Often times I think of characters of mine who so happen to fall into the category of “vampire” as more of wild beasts. They’re more like animals than anything; they act more as nocturnal carnivores rather than insatiable blood lusting beings. This may lend a lot to the idea that these characters dislike being called “vampire” or lumped in as such. They find the word says more about Dracula than it does about them.

Anxiety, 2016, In Progress Shots

I’ve been really into coming up with highly detailed drawings lately, as you can see with works like “Decomposition” (2015), and “Neverending (This Isn’t Over)” (2015). For some reason, despite the fact that I can get fidgety working on these, I like putting in the effort and pushing myself to slow down. I also have been doing a lot of traditional ink work and going back to my comic book roots in doing so.

I Remember, 2014, Process Gif

So I’m trying to make sure I update my website more often and add things to the blog here, things that I think my visitors will find interesting. I know I like seeing both timelapse videos and process images. Often times I make process images (or process gifs) so you can see how things were moved along, but I don’t very often post them. I’m trying to rectify this!
